Allan J. Lester

October 10, 1945 ~ November 19, 2016 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Of the Town of Pendleton, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016, in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on October 10, 1945, the son of the late Dorothy E. [Bennion] (late John) Winchester and John A. Lester.

Mr. Lester graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1963 and from Fairbury College in Nebraska, where he played on the football team. He served with the US ARMY in the 7th Medical Battalion in Korea.

After the service, he began working with the New York Central Railroad for the next 40 years, retiring as a conductor with Conrail in 2005. Mr. Lester helped coach youth football and helped with the Lion's Club fishing derby. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed traveling and following Drum Corp.

Mr. Lester was the husband of the late Susan M. [Carpenter] Lester, who passed away on November 14, 2016. He is survived by one son John (Mary Beth) Lester, one daughter Virginia (Jeff) Chancy, five grandchildren Megan (Shane) Woods, Ryan and Zachary Lester, Cameron and Logan Chancy, a great grandson Noah, a sister Ruth (Robert) Mort, also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lester was the brother of the late Janine Lester.

His family will be present on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Matthew Kofahl officiating.

Memorials may be made in his name to Niagara Hospice.

Interment with Military Honors in Memorial Park, Lewiston, NY.
