Of Lewiston, NY, passed away on May 4, 2017 in the Erie County Medical Center. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Francesco and Anna [Bernasconi] Schieppati.

Irene spent much of her childhood living with her extended family in Lugano, Switzerland, before returning to Niagara Falls and eventually graduating from Niagara Falls High School, class of 1947. She moved to the Village of Lewiston in 1968, where she worked as a clerk at Neisner's, Coulson’s, and McCrory’s. Irene enjoyed painting landscapes, gardening, and cooking family meals, and often volunteered to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. An extremely loving mother and grandmother, Irene always made caring for her family a priority in her life.

Irene was the wife of the late Edward J. Bartolomei who passed away on October 27, 2016.

She survived by her sons Robert P. Bartolomei and Chris J. (Megan) Bartolomei, daughters Janice L. (Carl) Cadregari and Sandra A. Lewis, grandchildren Shannon Clarke, Alexis and Madeline Farugia, Lucia and Aidan Bartolomei, Christopher and Kathryn Cadregari, great-grandchildren Miles and Reid Clarke, sister-in-law Joyce (Jesse) Sabin and Irene (Joseph) Saia. She is also survived by her nephews Frank and Daniel Schieppati, Jeff Sabin, and nieces Sue Saia and Jodie Dipofi, as well as numerous cousins who still live in Lugano. She was the sister of the late Alex Schieppati.
