Of Sanborn, NY, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in Mt. View Assisted Living, Town of Lockport, NY.   He was born in Sanborn, NY, on June 25, 1928, the son of the late Howard L. and Margaret E. [Kelly] Lewis.

Mr. Lewis graduated from Trott Vocational High School and served in the Merchant Marines and  the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.    He was a welder with Niagara Aluminum and then with  Kimberly Clark which became Norpac, where he retired from in 1991.

Mr. Lewis was a member  and Past Chief of the Sanborn Fire Company and is an Exempt member of the fire company, a life long member of the Sanborn American Legion, St. Andrew Lutheran Church and the Sanborn Area Historical Society.     He was an avid sportsman and member of the LaSalle Sportsman's Club.

He was the husband of the late Ruth [Becthel] Lewis, who passed away in June of 1987 and the late Norma J. [Dean] Milke Lewis, who passed away in August of 2015.    Mr. Lewis is survived by his son Kevin (Susanne) Lewis, two daughters Susan (Robert) DeVantier and Sandra (Erwin)  Schurz, two granddaughters Rebecca Drabczky and Christina DeVantier and uncle of Patricia (Donald) Thompson, Nancy (Paul) Hinman, James Dean and Howard (Kim) Dutton, also many additional nieces and nephews.   He was the brother of the late William Lewis and Betty (late Donald) Dutton.

His family will be present on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM  at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held  on Tuesday at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. R. Peter Vogeler officiating.

The Sanborn Fire Co. services will be on Monday at 7:00 PM, followed by the Sanborn America Legion at 7:30 PM.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Church or to the Sanborn Historical Society. 

Interment with Military Honors will be in Wheatfield Cemetery, Town of Wheatfield, NY.
