Jerome Francis "Jerry" Gormley

November 7, 1930 ~ October 20, 2017 (age 86)

86, of Lewiston, NY and formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on November 7, 1930, the son of the late Frank and Katharine [Ludeke] Gormley. 

Jerry attended St. Mary's High School and later Niagara Falls High School. He also attended Niagara University where he played on the last intercollegiate football team at NU in 1950. 

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent four years as an Air Control man during the Korean War. 

In September of 1961, he married his loving wife Elizabeth [Wallace] Gormley who predeceased him in January of 2011. 

Jerry was an outstanding Ford car salesman for over 60 years. His customer service was legendary,  resulting in many Top Salesmen of the Year Awards during his career. He retired in 2015 from Steve Baldo Ford, Inc. 

As an avid Buffalo Bills football fan,  he was a season ticket holder from the first days of the AFL under Coach Buster Ramsey. Jerry also enjoyed being outside and reveled in sailing on the Niagara River and later he enjoyed sitting at the Lewiston Docks observing the unfolding and ever-changing scene. 

Jerry is survived by his son Jon [Cori] Gormley, his beloved grandchildren Sean and Marissa Gormley, a brother Michael C. (Kathy) Gormley, also many nieces and nephews.   He was the brother of the late Robert J. Gormley MD. 

His family will be present on Monday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, Lewiston, NY, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM, followed by a  Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. 

The Gormley family would like to acknowledge and express their gratitude to Dr. Samuel Serianni for all the care he bestowed upon Jerry over many years. 

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to HANCI, 1302 Main Street, Niagara Falls, NY  14301.

Interment with military honor in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Town of Porter, NY.
