Of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 2, 1936, the son of the late Richard J. and Henrietta [O'Leary] McKean.

Mr. McKean graduated from Bishop Duffy High School and Niagara University.    He served in the US Army as 1st Lieutenant from 1957 to 1959. Mr. McKean began working with the Carborundrum Company and later became the President of the Graphite Sales Company, until his retirement in 2001.

He was an active member and trustee at Divine Mercy Church, a member of the St. Francis Board and St. Vincent de Paul.   Mr. McKean  received the St. Joseph Workers Award and was opening day chairman of the Whirlpool Park Baseball League, for many years. 

He is survived by his wife  of 54 years Helen M. [Schaub] McKean, two sons Brian (Maria) and Christopher (Ben) McKean, two daughters Laura (Mark) Laurrie and Lisa (Ray) Granieri, nine grandchildren Erin, Matthew, Katherine, Emily, Michael, Nicholas, Bennett, Timothy and Lauren, two brothers Barney (late Josephine) and Timothy (Mary) McKean, also many nieces and nephews. Mr. McKean was the brother of the late Richard (Betty) McKean.

Private funeral services were held at the wishes of his family.

Memorials may be made in his name to Divine Mercy Church. 

Entombment with military honors was held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
