Of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on  Thursday, June 15, 2017, in Buffalo General Hospital. 
She was born in Niagara Falls , NY on July 22, 1962, the daughter of Rose [Alverez] and the late Richard McKinnon.

Melissa was employed at Home Depot and later became the medical billing supervisor with Complete Home Care for the past 6 years. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, riding her bike and going on cruises.

Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband of 37 years William D. Mercer, they were married on July 22, 1979, two sons William D. and Jacob J. Mercer, a brother Mark (late Joy) McKinnon and a sister Marla (Dale) Canning. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at Fair Haven Church, 7337 Ward Road, North Tonawanda, NY, with the Pastor Patricia MacKinnon officiating.

Melissa gave the gift of life by being an organ donor.
