Of Stella Niagara, NY, passed away September 24, 2017. She was born on June 29, 1917 in Columbus, OH, the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Schwartz) Marrah. 

Sr. Lois entered the Sisters of St. Francis in September of 1936 and was Professed on August 17, 1938.

Sr. attended St. Aloysius Academy, New Lexington, Ohio. She received a Certificate in Secretarial Science from Sawyer Business School, Buffalo, NY; a B.A. from St. Mary of the Springs (Ohio Dominican), Columbus, OH; and an M.A. from Notre Dame University.

She served as teacher/principal at St. Joseph, Gowanda, NY; Bishop McMahon High School, Buffalo, NY; Sacred Heart Academy, Buffalo, NY;  and the Seminary of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at Stella Niagara,NY; Rosary High School, Columbus, OH; and St. Aloysius, New Lexington, in Ohio; St. Agnes, Atlantic Highlands, NJ; Mater Dei High School, New Monmouth, NJ; and Charleston Catholic High School, Charleston, W. VA.  She worked at St. Ann Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, for a year. She also served as Pastoral Minister at St. Mary's Parish, New Monmouth, NJ for several years.  After retiring in 1988, Sister Lois remained at St. Mary's Parish as secretary for Religious Education. 

Sister Lois moved back to Stella Niagara in 1997 and went to the Stella Niagara Health Center in September 2002. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an aunt and uncle, Harry and Winifred Schwartz as well as her brothers William, Charles and Jack Marrah. She is survived by  cousins, Margaret Ann Schwartz and Rita Morris, a niece, Kathleen (Zefin) Gorecki and a nephew, Tim Morris.

Sr. Lois will be waked Tuesday from 3-7 PM at Stella Niagara, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM in the Sister's Chapel.
