Arthur p. DeVole

May 28, 1925 ~ April 3, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Was called to eternal rest at his Sanborn home on April 3, 2017.

He was born on May 28, 1925,  in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Richard and Katherine [Reinhard] DeVole.

Art was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the European Theatre during WWII.

He was a Chief Engineer who designed and operated baking equipment and was responsible for numerous patents.   He worked locally at Acme Markets, Royale Rolls, Dunlop Tire, and Kaufman's Bakery, among others.

Art was also a Master Carpenter who built his own homes and did numerous remodeling projects for his family and friends. He was a generous person, who was never too busy to help out anyone in need.

He was a "jack of all trades" who enjoyed fixing things, traveling, dining, playing euchre, John Deere tractors, and spending time with his family.

Art was the husband of the late Rita Ann [Rutkowski] DeVole, who passed away in September of 1999, they were married on April 14, 1945.  

In 2001, he met a loving companion, Jeanette Dezaiffe, who was by his side up until the time of his passing.

Besides Jeanette, he is survived by a son, James (Sandra) DeVole, daughters Catherine, Madeleine "Mindy" (Gerry) Wick, Deborah Pace (late Ernie), Diane (Randy) Haseley, a daughter in law Deah  DeVole, eleven grandchildren Dawn Herling, Paul & Tammy Gaboury, Lisa DeVole, Craig Kijowski, Michael,  Danielle, Diana, and Aimee DeVole, Shawn & Grant Haseley,  12 great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Kenny DeVole and was  predeceased by four late brothers and two late sisters.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Monday at 11:00 AM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, with the Rev. David Hayes officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Art's memory can be made to Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Sanborn, NY.

Inurnment with Military honors in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY.
