Beverly Hill

Beverly Hill of the Tuscarora Nation, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010, at her home.

She was a member of the Bear Clan, born February 28, 1935 on the Tuscarora Nation, the daughter of Clinton and Beulah [Mt. Peasant] Rickard. Mrs. Hill graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1952 and from Graceland University in 1954, where she played badminton and field Lacrosse. She was a secretary for numerous construction companies in the area over the years. Mrs. Hill was President of the Indian Defense League of America and a member of the Indian Bowling League, the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post #54 and the Eastern Star of Ransomville.

She loved baking, and enjoyed gardening, doing bead work, making corn husk dolls and traveling to to Native American Pow Wows. She was also a soloist at the Redeemer Church of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Hill was very active her children, never missing any type of sporting event they were involved with and also with the Iroquois Indian Band. She was the wife of the late Harry A. "Jiggie" Hill, who died in October of 2004.

Mrs. Hill is survived by her children Alec D. Hill and Marilyn (James) Isaacs, Harry (Barbara) Hill, Arnold "Curt" (Arlene) Hill, Audrey (Rodd) Hill, Diane (Morley) Hill and Rhea Skye, a granddaughter Heather Ann Hill, a brother Eli Rickard, three sisters Onalee Cooper, Karen Jacobson and Lois Henry, also several step grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Andrew C. Hill, Tracy Lynn Rickard and Allen D. Hill, sister of the late Norton, Enid, William, Charles, Clark, Harold, Edith Rickard and Leroy Mt. Pleasant.

Friends may call at the family home 2030 Upper Mountain Road, after 4:00 PM on Tuesday, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, on Tuscarora Nation.
