Charles R. "Chuck" Travis of the Town of Wheatfield, NY, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on August 23, 1949, the son of the late Roger and Florence [Wallace] Travis.
Mr. Travis graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1969 and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as an orthopedic cast specialist. After the service, he became a maintenance mechanic with the North Tonawanda Board of Education for 28 years, before retiring in 2010.
He enjoyed watching his grandson learn and grow, spending time with his family and friends and singing karaoke.
Mr. Travis was the husband of 38 years to the love of his life, Kathryn "Katie" [Miller] Travis, who passed away in October of 2016.
He was the father of Corey (Kevin) Rhoney and Sara (Tony) Caraciolo, grandfather of Jack Rhoney, brother of Donald (Linda), Michael (Barbara) Travis, Karen (Donald) Kisiel, Wm. Kirk (Susan) and Gregg (Flora) Travis and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Travis was predeceased by his brother James Travis and his favorite family member, his late cat Carl.
His family will be present on Friday from 2-6 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM, with military honors to follow.
