Cherie Garling Obituary
Of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on September 16, 1930, the daughter of the late Hubert and Veona [Myers] Stubbs.
Mrs. Garling graduated from Wilson High School in 1948 and from Byrant and Stratton.
She married Robert H. Taylor in September of 1951 and after his death in 1961, she took over his Insurance Agency and ran it for three years. In August of 1963 she married Dayton I. Garling and turned the business over to him, who ran it for 31 years before his retirement in 1994. Dayton passed away in October of 2015.
Mrs. Garling was a member of the Sanborn Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working on puzzles and was an avid Bills fan.
She is survived by one daughter Jaclyn (Scott) Burdick, two sons Joel (Debi) Taylor and Scott (Margaret) Taylor, six grandchildren Rachel, Megan (Tommy) Davis, Brian, Sarah (JJ) Willis, Steven and Brooke, five great grandchildren Mikya, Aviana, Takari, Olivia and Amelia, one brother Jon (Debbie) Stubbs, also many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Garling was the sister of the late Hubert Stubbs, Jean Greene and Karen Mitchell.
Her family will be present on Thursday from 2-5 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will follow at 5:00 PM, with the Rev. R. P. Vogeler and the Rev. Mark Auernhamer officiating.
Flowers are gratefully declined, Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton, NY.
