Donald Wannicki Obituary

Donald J. Wannicki, of Ransomville, NY, passed away on  Sunday, September 9, 2018, under the care of his family and Hospice of Buffalo. 

He was born in Buffalo, NY on January 27, 1940, a son of the late Joseph and Loretta  Wannicki.
Mr. Wannicki served in the US Marine Corp.
 
He was a master chef  and trouble shooter for several national hotels and later with various restaurants and hotels in the area and retired from Dunlop Tire in 2002.
 
Mr. Wannicki was a lifetime member of the Marine Corp League and one of the founding members of the of Toys for Tots and the Young Marines in Jamestown, the Past Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus Counsel #247 and volunteered for many organizations over the years.
 
He was the husband of Mary [Brett] Wannicki and the late Judith Mae [Shafer] Wannicki and is survived by two grandchildren Patrick J.(Elizabeth) Wannicki and Megan (Jessica Oswald) Merrell, a great granddaughter Scarlet Elizabeth Wannicki, a sister Dorothy (late Joseph) Graham, also survived by many in laws, nieces and nephews.
 
Mr. Wannicki was the father of the late Barry J. and Scott J. Wannicki.
 
His family will be present  on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME,
901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 9:30 AM  at St. Benedict Church, 1317 Eggert Road, Amherst, NY.
 
Memorials may be made in his name to Toys for Tots or to your local Hospice.
 
Interment with military honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,  Lewiston, NY.
