Duane S. Anderson, Sr. of the Tuscarora Nation, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. A member of the Bear Clan, he was born on the Tuscarora Nation on August 11, 1929, the son of the late Willis and Martha [Thompson] Anderson.
Mr. Anderson served in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II and the Korean War. He was the last surviving World War II veteran on the Tuscarora Nation. He was a maintenance supervisor with the Pyron Company for over 37 years, before retiring. Mr. Anderson was a chartered member of the Niagara Frontier Coin Club, the 82nd Airborne Association, the Sanborn Historical Society and numerous other clubs and organization.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years of Isabell A. [Dubuc] Anderson, two sons Duane S. (Patricia) Anderson, Jr., Joseph M. Anderson, two daughter-in-laws Catherine and Holly Anderson, nine grandchildren Dana (Martin) Tanaka, Joseph (Corrine), Kyle, Liam, Alex (Christine), Sam, Jamie, Allison and Rex Anderson, also seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Douglas and Rex Paul Anderson and was predeceased by six brothers and sisters.
His family will be present on Friday from 4-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where a prayer service will be held at 7 PM, followed by Funeral Services on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment with Military Honors will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
