Jerome Dallas Chatmon, Sr.

October 5, 1946 ~ November 8, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Of Amherst, NY, entered his heavenly home on November 8, 2017. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 5, 1946, the son of the late Dallas and Mary Maggielin (James) Chatmon.
 

Jerome graduated the former Trott Vocational High School in 1965 as a Millwright.  He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army one month after graduating.  He served honorably as a Medical Specialist and was stationed in "Camp Bearcat" Saigon, South Vietnam in 1966 as a soldier assigned to the U.S. Army First Infantry “A” Division and later assigned to the Pleiku Province, the sight of one of the bloodiest battles of the Vietnam Conflict.  Jerome was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense medal along with two Overseas Service Bars. He truly had a love for socializing with people and conversing. 
 
Jerome leaves to cherish his memory two sons Jerome Dallas Chatmon Jr. and Darnell Sims, sisters Josetta and Noreen Chatmon and Merdia (Fred) Myles, brothers Edwin, Isaac and Norwood Chatmon, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was the father of the late Consuella C. Chatmon and Cornelius Chatmon, brother of the late Paul and Joseph Chatmon, Ella Katherine (Jacob) Williams and Barbara Ann (Allan) Douglas.
 
His family will be present on Wednesday from 6-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 1124 Ontario Avenue, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, Service at 7PM with Military Honors to follow.
