Karen R. Labosky of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 in Buffalo General Hospital. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 14, 1935, the daughter of the late Paul and Louise [Edlington] Krueger.
Mrs. Labosky graduated from Niagara Falls High School and the University of Buffalo. She began her teaching career in physical education, she taught in the Lewiston Porter School District for over 30 years, before retiring.
Mrs. Labosky was a member of the New York State Teachers Association, the Unitarian Church of Niagara Falls and served on the Board of Directors at the Niagara Falls YMCA .
She was actively involved in the Hyde Park Tennis Leagues and enjoyed her many friends from the tennis circuit. She won the Avis Cup in 1979, 1980 and in 1981. Mrs. Labosky enjoyed playing volleyball and skiing and was member of the Bell Aerospace Ski Club and served as a chaperone for both the LaSalle Jr. High School and Lew-Port Ski Clubs. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed her summers at Long Beach, while entertaining her family and friends.
Mrs. Labosky was the mother of Kristin Labosky, and sister of Paula (Daniel) VanDermeer and Frederick (Barb) Krueger, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Peter Labosky, sister of the late Barbara (late Hugh) Brennan and former wife of the late Joseph Labosky, Jr.
Her family will be present on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-8:30 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, with funeral services to follow at 8:30 PM.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in her name to the Alliance for the Great Lakes or to Niagara County SPCA.
