Lee G. "Toby" Keir, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at his residence under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Lee was born in Mansfield, NY, on August 6, 1928, the son of the late Lee H. and Minnie [Erdman] Keir.
Mr. Keir moved to this area with his family. He served with the US Army during the Korean War, where he received a Combat Infantryman Badge and Purple Heart. After the war he was employed at Kimberly Clark and later at Harrison Radiator in Lockport until retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Sanborn American Legion #969, the Lt. John Bobo Chapter 264 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Youngstown VFW and was an avid sportsman and a Golden Eagle of the NRA.
Mr. Keir was the husband of the late Norma J. [Sherwood] Keir, who passed away in February of 2007.
He is survived by his daughter, Alice (Carmen) Fink-Draga, two grandsons Joshua and Timothy (Amanda) Fink, a great grandson Koa, his good friend Mike Targon, also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Keir was the brother of the late Vedder Keir and Lois Harms.
He touched the hearts of everyone he met.
His family will be present on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, with services by Sanborn Legion at 7:00 PM and the Order of the Purple Heart at 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, 4169 Church Road, Lockport, NY, with the Rev. Alex H. Knowles officiating.
Memorials may be made in his name Pioneer Camp & Retreat Center (Operation Purple Heart), 9324 Lakeshore Road, Angola, NY 14006.
Interment with military honors in Wheatfield Cemetery, Town of Wheatfield, NY.
