Rita McConnaghy Giannetti of the Village of Lewiston, NY, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo, NY, from complications of cancer treatments. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 20, 1941, the daughter of the late Patrick and Ethel [Tone] McConnaghy.
Mrs. Giannetti graduated from St. Mary's High School and Cabrini University and received her Masters degree from the Georgia State University. She was a nurse practitioner at the Veterans Medical Center in Atlanta, before retiring in 2005.
Mrs. Giannetti was an avid bird watcher, gardener and was a member of the Western New York Land Conservancy.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Robert M. Giannetti, two sons Matthew (Linda Kim) and Adam (Ewa Wandzioch) Giannetti, seven grandchildren Juliet, Lucas, Vita, Agata, Zuzanna, Eveline, Randal, three great grandchildren and was the sister of Ann (John) Roche Dooher, Gerald (Grace) McConnaghy, Betty Jane (Anthony) Girasole, Audrey (Terrance) Wallace, Mary Jo (James) Ashcraft, Kevin (Diane) McConnaghy, she is also survived by a sister-in-law Dora McConnaghy, 28 nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Buddy.
Mrs. Giannetti was the sister of the late Patrick (Catherine) and Daniel McConnaghy.
Her family will be present on Saturday from 2-6 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY.
The family would prefer that memorials may be made in her name to the Western New York Land Conservancy, WNYLC.org, in lieu of flowers.
