Sister Julie entered the Sisters of St. Francis September 5, 1950 and was professed August 18, 1953. Sister Julie's ministry was Education, Pastoral and Home Health Care. She received her B.S. degree from Rosary Hill (Daemen) College in Buffalo, New York, in 1967; a certificate in Nursing Home Administration from the Ohio Board of Examiners in 1989; and successfully completed a Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program from the Fairfield Career Center Adult Eastland Vocation School District in Carroll, OH in 1991.
Sister Julie taught (and was principal and superior) at St. Peter's School, Lewiston, NY and St. Lawrence School, Buffalo, NY. She also taught in Ohio, at St. Rose School, New Lexington; and in West Virginia, at St. Anthony School, Charleston. She served as principal at St. Matthias School, Columbus, Ohio.
In 1979, she became Pastoral Minister at St. Mary Parish, Delaware, Ohio. Beginning in 1990, Sister Julie began Home Health Care ministry through Central Ohio Nursing Service, Worthington, OH and Nurse's House Call, Akron, OH. In 2000, she returned to Pastoral Care Ministry at St. John Neuman Parish, Sunbury, Ohio. During this time, Sister Julie also met regularly with and encouraged Associate members of the Sisters of St. Francis. After her retirement, she continued to regularly volunteer at St. John Neumann Parish.
Sister Julie moved to Stella Niagara in 2014 and became a resident of the Stella Niagara Health Center since 2018.
Sister Julie is survived by her loving niece, Paula Pinter and a cousin, Jack Walsh.
Besides her parents, Sister Julie was pre-deceased by brothers, Martin and John and a sister, Rita.
Sister Julie's Wake will be on Sunday March 3 from 4-7PM with a prayer service at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in the Sister's Chapel Monday, March 4 at 10AM.
