Of Stella Niagara, NY, passed away  February 8, 2017. She was born in Somerset, Ohio on January 22, 1921, the daughter of the late Urban W. and Bernice [Harris] Archer.

Sister entered the Sisters of St. Francis August 17, 1939 and was Professed August 18, 1941.

She received a BA from St. Mary of the Springs, Columbus, Ohio; MA from Assumption College, Worcester, MA; and PhD from Sorbonne, Paris, France (French Literature). Sister taught at St. John School, St. Peter School, Wehrle High School in Columbus, and St. Aloysius Academy in New Lexington, Ohio; Charleston Catholic High School in Charleston, West Virginia; Sacred Heart Academy, and Rosary Hill (Daemen) College in Buffalo, New York; Monroe High School in Fairbanks, Alaska; Father Duenas Memorial High School in Guam;  Coordinating Religious Education Programs at Fort Collins, Colorado, St. Henry Parish at Buckeye,  Arizona;  doing Pastoral Care at at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard, California and Mercy Nursing Home in Phoenix Arizona; tutoring at the Boys’ and Girls’ Club in Phoenix, Arizona; and spending some time in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Sister Marilyn will be especially remembered as a member  of the discernment group who planned for and studied possible locations for the U.S. Inter-provincial mission Mexico (1990-1992).

Sister Marilyn retired in Columbus, Ohio in 1993, then moved to Stella Niagara in 2007.  She became a resident of the Stella Niagara Health Center in 2008.

She is survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins and her Sisters in the community. She was the sister to the late  Raphael H. Archer, James P. Archer, Daniel W. Archer,Carole E. Weiland, Ellen Miller and Sister Mary Urban Archer, OSF.  

Sister will be waked on Monday from 3:00-7:00PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on  Tuesday at 10:00AM in the Sister's Chapel.
