Of the Town of Pendleton, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017, in Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, NY. He was born in Syracuse, NY, on July 3, 1932, the son of the late Walter J. and Margaret [Fransisco] Pirong.

Mr. Pirong served in the US Marines during the Korean War. He moved to the Western New York in the late 1960's and moved to Pendleton in 1980. Mr. Pirong was employed with Agway as the  plant  manager of the seed division in Buffalo and later as the superintendent of the feed mill in Batavia, before retiring. He enjoyed gardening, being in the out of doors and hunting.

Mr. Pirong was the husband of the late Shirley [Danquer] Pirong. He is survived by his dear friend Dolores Giarrizzo, his children Walter L. (Yvonne) Pirong, Cathy Ezzo, Valerie (Bernie) Weichmann, Howard E. (late Teresa) and John (Yen) Pirong, a sister Dorothy (Cliff) Randall, also seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

His family will be present on Friday from 2-4 and 7-8:30 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held at 8:30 PM, with the Rev. Jerry Bartko officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Walter D. Pirong Scholarship Fund at Niagara Catholic. 

Inurnment with military honors will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst, NY.
