BARBARA CHAPIN CARELLA

Of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023.  She was born in Buffalo, NY, on November 15, 1939, the daughter of the late John H. and Frances [Nussbaum] Chapin.

Barb was raised in Lewiston, graduated from Lewiston Porter High School in 1957, and attended Penn Hall Junior College.  She worked as a legal secretary and an administrative assistant for the EPA.

Barb married John Carella Sr. on October 10, 1998.  They attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church together, enjoyed traveling, their membership at the Elks, backyard picnics, and holidays with family. Barb (also affectionately known as “Honey”), found great joy in spending time with her family and friends. She cherished every get-together, visit, and phone call, and loved reminiscing about her beautiful life.

She is survived by her children Roy Taylor (Tori), Jo Ann Dillon (Jack), Katherine Thurman (David); stepchildren John Carella Jr. (Cathy), Maria Carella, Vincent Carella (Mark), Leonard Carella; grandchildren Jamie (Tommy), Mark (Erin), Alex, Hannah, Christina, Heather, Taylor, April, Jaden, Jordan; great grandchildren Juniper and London, sisters in law, Lucille (late Angelo) Gasparro and Anne (late Lawrence) Carella; niece Jenny (Julius), and nephew Peter.

Barb was predeceased by her husband John Carella Sr., brother Peter Chapin, and brother in law, Dennis Carella.

Her family will be present on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 1- 2:00 PM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 140 Rainbow Blvd. Niagara Falls, NY, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 PM.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Elk's Lodge #346, 7710 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
