Of Lewiston, NY, it is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Blair Hoplight, who passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on August 28, 1943, a son of Blair E. and Ann [Chiodo] Hoplight.
Blair was a devoted member of the Niagara Falls and Lewiston communities. Starting from a young age, he focused on bettering other’s lives by working as a mentor for The Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Falls. Later in life in his career, he worked as a probation officer at the Niagara Falls Probation Office. After retirement, he spent his time with his grandchildren, doting on his wife Margaret, driving his trucks, fishing, smoking cigars, telling stories, and gardening.
He was a devoted husband of the late Patricia (Jendraszek) Hoplight, who passed away in 2003. Blair is survived by his wife Margaret A. [Bell] Hoplight, his children Andrea Tapia, Blair (Jenna) Hoplight, Jr., Craig (Jennifer) Hoplight, Lindsey (Tim) Panetta and Miriam (Sean) Dalziel, five devoted grandchildren Mackenzie and Bailey Hoplight, Sebastian, Julian Tapia, and Troy Panetta, brothers Mike (Linda) and David (Pamela) Hoplight also many nieces and nephews.
His family will be present on Monday from 4-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY. Everyone is invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY, with the Rev. Luke Uebler officiating.
Memorials may be made in his name to Ronald McDonald House or to Niagara Hospice.
