Brooke Mauro

Brooke Mauro of Lewiston, NY,  passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence.  Brooke was born in Clearfield, PA on August 3, 1931, a daughter of the late Thurman and Edna (Hickock) Shaw and moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1940.

She was a graduate of LaSalle High School, in the Class of 1949.

Brooke was employed as a Medical Secretary for Dr. Salvatore Latona and later at Niagara Urology Associates Niagara Falls, NY,  for Drs. Butsunturne and Mohamed, for over 30 years.   She also volunteered at Mount St. Mary's Hospital for 10 years.

Brooke was a member of the Up to Date Mother's Club, Hyde Park PTA, New Beginning's, Ransomville Seniors and the Plus 50 Club at the Niagara United Presbyterian Church.

She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, V. James Mauro, who passed away on December 3, 1999.
Brooke is surviving by her children Christa A. Mauro and James F. (Maria) Mauro,  four grandchildren Brent and Kerianne Atkinson,  Vincent Mauro and Anna Breed, a sister Jill Rosetti.   She also leaves a special friend, Karen Diodate, who is affectionately referred to by the family as "a second daughter" and also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Rebecca Rinaldis and Mona Manz.

Private Funeral Services will be held at the wishes of her family.

Memorials may be be made in her name to Niagara Hospice.

Inurnment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
