Of the Tuscarora Indian Reservation passed away December 24, 2024. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 11, 1949, son of the late Albert and Luella E. [Johnson] Gansworth. He was an enrolled member of the Onondaga Nation, Eel Clan.
He is survived by his wife Susan S. (Printup) Gansworth, son Jason Gansworth, daughters Jolene (James) Marsh, Jenna (Nicholas) Macaulay, grandchildren Cora and Carina Macaulay, siblings Jayne [ Fitzhugh ] Ferguson, Holly Anderson, Lee [ Juliette ] Gansworth, Willard Gansworth, Eric Gansworth [ Larry Plant ] and several nieces and nephews.
Brother of the late Neil Gansworth.
Bruce proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1968-1972. He spent time abroad in Japan and enjoyed telling stories about his service. In November 2022, Bruce participated in the procession and dedication of the National Native American Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Bruce worked for Delphi/General Motors in Lockport for over 30 years where he made lifelong friends. His family meant everything and he enjoyed vacationing with them, attending sporting events and anything involving his children and grandchildren. Sports were another passion as Bruce held season tickets to the Buffalo Bills and Bandits teams for decades. He coached his daughters’ softball teams. He himself participated in hockey, track, softball, basketball, and lacrosse in his younger years, and golf in his later years.
Bruce was a dedicated volunteer and community member of the Tuscarora Indian Reservation. He worked at the annual Tuscarora Indian Picnic, reservation clean-up and many other events.
Visitation will be on FRIDAY from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY. 14092.
Services on Saturday at 10AM at the Tuscarora Baptist Church, 2208 Mount Hope Road Sanborn, NY, 14132.
Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
