CHARLES J. FLAY
Of Elkin, North Carolina and formerly of Niagara Falls, New York, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023. Charles was born on February 14, 1938, to Frank L. Flay and Bernice (Little) Flay in Niagara Falls.
Charles was educated at Niagara Falls High School, graduating in 1957 and was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for forty years prior to his retirement. A faithful Christian, Charles worshipped at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Oneida, New York and then when it merged, Grace Lutheran Church in Canastota, New York. A dedicated hunter and outdoors man, Charles enjoyed his camp in the Adirondacks. Charles served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and Navy, was a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout, and was particularly proud of being the National Chairman for Mental Health and Retardation for the United States Jaycees.
Charles was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Gail Marie (Townsend) Flay and is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and (Cris) Flay, John and (Kathy) Flay, and Jason and (Katie) Flay. Charles is also survived by his numerous grandsons and great grandsons.
Visitation on FRIDAY from 11:30AM-1:30PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road SANBORN, NY, services at 1:30PM with Rev. James Bastian officiating.
