Clifford J. Schlemmer, Sr. of the Town of Cambria, NY, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. He was born in Buffalo, NY, on September 28, 1942 the son of the late James E. and Eleanor W. [Piontek] Schlemmer, Sr.
Cliff had lived in Buffalo before moving to the Cambria area in the 1970's.
He was a glass cutter for American Optical, which became Leica for over 30 years before retiring.
Cliff was an avid car and Harley Davidson enthusiast. He drag raced his car "Varmint" at Lancaster and Cayuga Speedways for many years. His true passion was his 1970 Monte Carlo Classic that he spent so many hours working on. He was also a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt.
Cliff was the long time companion of the late MaryLou Schultz.
He is survived by his children Clifford J. (Ashley) Schlemmer, Jr., Denise (Larry) May, Suzette (Dennis) Hallman and Shirleen (Andy) Besch, three grandchildren Gary Rogers, Jr., Cole Hallman and Logan Besch, a brother James E. (Dorothy) Schlemmer, Jr., two sisters Cheryl (Dan) Hare and Lynn Schlemmer, also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Cliff was the grandfather of the late Amanda Rogers.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday at 10:00 AM at First Trinity Lutheran Church, 1570 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda, NY.
Memorials may be made in his name to First Trinity Lutheran Church or the Kidney Foundation.
Interment in St. John's Cemetery, Pine Ridge Rd., Cheektowaga, NY.
