Of Lewiston, NY passed away November 17, 2025. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 3, 1944, son of the late David J. and Josephine E. (Savage) Yates.
Mr. Yates was a teacher for the Lancaster School District.
David and his wife Mary Ann were married for 58 years. They took many trips over the years with Jim, Jeff and their grandchildren. They spent every summer at their cottage on Lake Nipissing until the Pandemic hit.
He enjoyed Curling with his wife for over 44 years in Niagara Falls and St. Catherines, Ontario. They curled in a number of mixed bonspiels, winning some and always having fun together. David was very competitive and enjoyed curling in many mens bonspiels where he frequently won events. He loved saying "I'm the American who beat Canadians". He also enjoyed fishing.
David is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Cook) Yates, sons James Patrick Yates, Jeffrey David Yates, grandchildren Logan, Maddison and BrieAnn and brother Roy Allen (Sam Copick) Yates.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22 from 1-3PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga St. LEWISTON, NY.
