Delbert L. Carl of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on Friday evening, September 17, 2021 at Tidewell Hospice House, Venice, Florida. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York on Wednesday, March 26, 1941, the youngest son of the late Emory Carl and Marion Crimmins.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and is a Purple Heart recipient.
Following his military service, Delbert returned home to Sanborn, New York. In 1969 he embarked on a coast-to-coast trip on a “Lil” Indian mini-bike with a good friend and his family. They traveled from New York to San Francisco in two and a half weeks. In the years following the mini-bike trip, his children were born and he took his family on numerous trips across the U.S. in his motorhome.
He retired from a career as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at Nabisco in Niagara Falls, New York. Retirement took him down to Southern Florida to escape the snow and cold. He enjoyed dancing and tinkering on many projects.
Delbert is remembered with love by the following: his three children, Melissa (Rick), Douglas (Heather), Dale (Jena); his sister Delores (Don), and brother Duane (Ruth). Four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three nieces, two nephews, and many friends also survive him.
Family will be present on Saturday, October 16th, 2021 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, New York 14132. At 1 PM, prayers will be offered at Rhoney Funeral Home with the Pastor Kevin Backus officiating. A processional will follow to Northridge Cemetery for interment with Military Honors.
