Delbert A. Kennedy of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. He was born Altoona, PA, on December 22, 1923, the son of the late George and Margaret [McClosky] Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy served with the US Army on the Mariana Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa during World War II. After the war he came to Niagara Falls where he worked with various construction companies on the Niagara Power Project. As a union member of the National Elevator Industry, he worked as an installer for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a member the American Legion and enjoyed roller skating which he did well into his 90's, woodworking, gardening and loved the outdoors.
Mr. Kennedy was the husband of the late Shirley [Moore] Kennedy,who passed away in March of 2004.
He is survived by his children Deborah [ Joseph ] Winarski, Lucinda Kennedy, William [ Jean ] Kennedy, Lorraine [ Michael ] Quinn, Rebecca [ Thomas ] Wilkinson, John Kennedy and Kimberly [ Patrick ] Dickenson, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren also many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Burton, James and Earl Kennedy, Mildred Eckenroth and Olive Mae Leberfinger.
Private Funeral Services with Military Honors were held, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
Memorials may be made in his name to Niagara Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
