Dena Sciamanna Mandeville was born May 22, 1921 in Cumberland Wyoming. Dena was the daughter of Frank and Mary Ann Sciamanna.
Dena was one of four childre, her father was a coal miner.
Dena went to the University of Wyoming on full scholarship, She excelled in school and was Phi Beta Kappa. Dena studied linguistics and was fluent in several languages.
Dena left for Europe in 1943 where she worked for UNRA united nations relief and rehabilitation. She fed children in camps behind enemy lines in Italy. Dena was later promoted to head of personnel in Germany where she met her husband Greg Mandeville and they were married in 1949. After marriage, the Mandevilles returned to the US. Mr Mandeville joined the Carborundum Company in 1953 and was transferred to Niagara Falls, NY in 1960. Mr Mandeville was group vice president of international for Carborundum.
The Mandevilles traveled all over the world where her languages and love of people were of great help. In Niagara Falls, Mrs Mandeville was on the board of Porta Niagara Girls Club, Old Fort Niagara, Niagara County Spca, and was president of the college club of niagara. Mr Mandeville retired from British Petroleum in 1981.
They wintered in Palm Beach Florida and came home to Wilson in the summer.
Mrs Mandeville was a champion golfer and continued doing volunteer work into her 80s.
Mrs Mandeville is survived by her son,Greg jr, and her beloved granddaughter, Dena Gloria. She also is survived by her niece and nephew, Steven Sciamanna and Susan Baptiste, both of California.
She will be greatly missed.
