Dolores G. Cushman
Of the Town of Lockport, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. She was born in Lockport, NY, on November 2, 1930, a daughter of the late Carl W. and Irene M. [Suchetzky] Goodian.
Dolores graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and from Buffalo State Teacher’s College in 1952. She began her teaching career at the former Gasport Elementary School as a 2nd grade teacher and later at DeWitt Clinton School for several years. After raising her family, she returned to teaching 5th grade at Charles A. Upson School, until retiring in 1994.
She was a member of The New York State Retired Teacher’s and the Eastern Niagara County Retired Teacher’s Associations, the South Lockport Fire Companies Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as President, the Dale Association, the Kenan Center and the Kenan Arts Council .
Dolores enjoyed figure skating and was actively involved with the Town of Lockport Recreation Commission for over 20 years.
She was the wife of 55 years to the late David H. Cushman, who passed away in August of 2011.
Dolores is survived by her children Michael (Margaret) Cushman, Sharon Cushman and Patricia (Thomas) Potter, four grandchildren Robert (Marie) and William (Melissa) Cushman, Elizabeth Potter and Eileen (Conner) Domaleski, four great-grandchildren. Leah, Rose, Bridgette, Thomas and one yet to come, also several cousins and dear friends.
She was the sister of the late Francis C. Goodian and Donald L. Reynolds.
Her family will be present on Thursday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.
Everyone is invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport, NY, with the Rev. James R. Bastian officiating.
Flowers are gratefully declined, memorials may be made in her name to the South Lockport Fire Co. or Niagara Hospice.
Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lockport, NY.
