Douglas Musall

Douglas Musall of Lockport, New York, passed away at home with his family under the care of Hospice on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, following a long illness.

Born in Ontonagon, Michigan, Doug was the son of the late Reverend David Musall and Eileen (Ellis) Musall. In 1967, he moved with his family to Cambria, New York, when his father accepted a call to serve as minister of St. Peter Lutheran Church on North Ridge.

Doug attended St. Peter Lutheran School, graduated from Wilson High School, and continued his education at Erie Community College. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he loved basketball and played throughout all of his school years.

Doug began his career with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 463 before establishing his own excavating business, D & M Landscavation. Known for his skill and expertise, he could operate virtually any piece of heavy equipment and took great pride in his work.

In 1988, Doug married Melissa Murphy. Together they shared nearly 38 years of marriage and built a life centered on family, friendship, and many cherished memories. Doug was a devoted father to his children, Mac and Meg, and took great joy in supporting their activities and sports, sometimes finding time to volunteer as a baseball or basketball coach. Many family dinners and car rides were spent with post-game analysis of someone’s high school sporting event. As they grew, he often shared his wisdom on life lessons and was always available for a phone call to help during a day-to-day crisis – like car trouble.

An avid outdoorsman, Doug especially loved hunting. Whether hunting locally with family and friends or spending time at his favorite destination, Uncle Jim and Aunt Shirley’s farm in East Otto, he treasured the traditions that surrounded opening week of hunting season. Those gatherings were filled with family, friendship, good food, storytelling, laughter, and countless games of euchre.

Doug also enjoyed many years of snowmobiling with Melissa, family, and friends, creating lasting memories throughout Western New York, Canada, and the Adirondacks. He loved sharing his passion for outdoor recreation with his children and family, teaching them to ride snowmobiles and enjoy time on jet skis.

A dedicated Buffalo sports fan, Doug faithfully cheered for the Buffalo Bills and maintained his lifelong love of the Buffalo Sabres, a passion that began while watching games with his parents. He passed along this devotion to a team and all sports by watching countless games as a family and participating in years of family fantasy football and March Madness.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa Musall; his children, Macgregor and Megan; his siblings, Dawn (Bob) Clark, David (Lisa) Musall, and Art (Tami) Musall; his nieces and nephews, Ben (Amber) Musall, Katelyn (Joe) DiNatale, Amanda Clark, Daniel (Kelsey) Clark, Michelle Williams, and Evan Tinney, along with loving great nieces and nephews, and many extended family members.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and caregivers of VNA, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, and Niagara Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Doug, Melissa, and the entire family throughout his illness.

Funeral services on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 10AM. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, North Ridge, 4169 Church Road Lockport, NY 14094.
