Edison P. Mt Pleasant, III

A member of the wolf clan of the Tuscarora Indian Nation, went home to be with his Creator on Friday July 5, 2024.  He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 10,1946, the son of the late Chief Edison and Wolf Clan-Mother, Eliza Ruth [Patterson] Mt. Pleasant, Jr.

Edison attended the Tuscarora Indian Elementary School until the 6th grade and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School in 1964 and Niagara Community College in 1966, with AS in Electrical Technology.  Edison worked for Carborundum Co. directly from college in the research armor division resulting in a deferment during the Vietnam War.

He worked for the Ironworkers Local # 9 in Niagara Falls from 1969-to his lifetime membership and with Niagara Erecting and Clark Rigging and Rental from 1972 to 2008 where he retired as the superintendent.

He was a member of the Tuscarora Baptist Church and the representative of the wolf clan on the Tuscarora Council.

He enjoyed traveling extensively, including Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal, Caribbean Islands, Florida, California, Las Vegas, Germany, and China during his retirement.

Edison married his sweetheart Justine [Dubuc] Mt Pleasant in 1966 and they began building their home on the Tuscarora Nation and started their family the following year.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Claudine (David) Lachowski and Claudette (Kelly) Clause, five grandchildren Clint Farnham, Lori Lachowski, A'ngelee Clause, Kelsey Lachowski, and André Clause, a sister Delma (late Rev. Walter) Printup, Jr., also many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Clara (Norman) Patterson and was the grandson of the late Chief Harry and Wolf-Clan Mother Barbara [Chew] Patterson.

His family will be present on Tuesday, July 9, 2024  from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Tuscarora Baptist Church, 2088 Mt. Hope Road, Sanborn, NY, with Rev. Walter A. Printup, III and Rev. Donald Robinson Officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to the  American Diabetes Association.

Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Tuscarora Nation.
