Edward Schieffelin, Sr. Obituary


Of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY.  He was born in Buffalo, NY,  on January 27, 1943, a son of the late Edward and Helen [Campbell] Schieffelin.

Mr. Schieffelin served as a Sergeant with the US Marines during the Vietnam War. Later as a 1st Sergeant with the 3rd Battalion of the 390th Regiment, 2nd Brigade of the 98th Division with the Army Reserves.

He was a supervisor at Harrison Radiator in Lockport for over 32 years, retiring in 2002.

Mr. Schieffelin was a member of the Lewiston Kiwanis, where he was Past President and served as a Chairman of the Peach Festival, also the Youngstown Lions Club and the Lewiston VFW Post 7487.

He enjoyed family trips, golfing and was an avid sportsman.

Mr. Schieffelin is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary Ann [Gaudio] Schieffelin, his children Joseph  and Rebecca Schieffelin, his daughter-in-law Angela (Daniel) Felicetti,  three grandchildren Mercedes, Abigail and Madalynne. a sister Norma (James) Gonnella, also many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Edward J. Schieffelin, Jr., brother of the late Ann Burdick and Gertrude Smith and son-in-law of the late Joseph and Clara Gaudio.

His family will be present on Thursday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY.

Everyone is invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11:00 AM, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 218  Hinman Street, Youngstown, NY, with the Rev Luke Uebler officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to Niagara Hospice, the Lewiston VFW Post 7487 or to the Lewiston Kiwanis.

Entombment with Military Honors will be in the Gate of Heaven, Lewiston, NY.
