Elden Fischer Obituary

Elden R. Fischer of the Tuscarora Nation, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY.  Elden was born in Corn, OK,  on April 2, 1934, the son of the late Martin B. and Eva E. [Voth} Fischer.

Mr. Fischer served with the US Army during the Korean War.

He was a welder at Harrison Radiator in Lockport for over 30 years before retiring in 2001.

Mr. Fischer was involved with the Foster Children's Program over the years.

He loved his family gatherings and all the great food but especially being with his family.

Mr. Fischer enjoyed animals, whether they were food or just exotic pasture decorations, going to yard sales and always finding that  something he didn't know he needed, also hot political discussions with his first born granddaughter, wintering in Florida and traveling out West.

Dad often called all of us and that was a lot of calls so they would always be short and sweet. All of his daughters would joke who had him on the phone the longest.  "Hey, I just had a 5 minuite 45 second phone call from Dad!"

He was a devote Christian and going to church at the Tuscarora Baptist Church and 1st Baptist Church in Cross City, Florida.

He was the husband of the late Patricia F. [Hewitt] Fischer, who passed away in April of 2004.

Mr. Fischer is survived by his companion of 15 years Marie Snachez, his children.

Terri Fischer, Elden M. "Bubs" (Patricia) Fischer, Vannessa Rickard, Janice (Ronald) Smith, Galen (Andrea) Fischer, Patti Jo (Grant Bonhurst)  Henry, Renee (late Randy) Henry , and Sheldon (Sandra) Fischer, three brothers Paul, Ervin (Joan) and Larry (Josephine) Fischer, three sisters Pauline (Joe) Bingerheimer, Julie (John) McLlhaney and Esther Fischer,  30 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.  

He was the brother of the late Arthur Fischer, Selma McCoy and Rose (Ed) Rood.  

His family will be present after 2:00 PM Tuesday at the family home 1815 Mt. Hope Road, Lewiston, NY,  where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Walter A. Printup officiating.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Tuscarora Baptist Church.

Interment with Military Honor in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

Due to current regulations, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
