EUGENE J. ASKLAR

Of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY.  He was born in Swoyersville, PA on September 3, 1935,  son of the late John and Blanche [Adamshick] Asklar.

Mr. Asklar came to Niagara Falls in 1953 and was employed with Kimberly Clarke and also The Bob's Inn, while attending Niagara University.   He graduated from Niagara in 1961 and received his Masters degree from there in 1966.

Mr. Asklar was an English teacher with the Niagara Falls Board of Education for over 32 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #247 and the Teachers Union.

Mr. Asklar loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and cooking.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years,  Eleanor E. [Vanderhoff] Asklar, his children John (Christina) Asklar, Elizabeth Cotrufello, Thomas (Kelli) Asklar, Susan Bilquin William Asklar, nine grandchildren Evan, Max, Grant, Emma Kate, Sean, Emily, Jade, Jillian and Maggie, a brother in law Charles Shillington and his life long friend, the Hon. John (Jackie) Teixeira, also many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Asklar was the brother of the late John Asklar, Salome Shillington and Louise Asklar.

His family will be present on Wednesday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 1124 Ontario Avenue, NIAGARA FALLS, NY.

Everyone is invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Site, 2766 Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.

Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
