Frank J. Zahradnik

Of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023, in Our Lady of Peace. He  was born in Niagara Falls, NY,  on May 25, 1938, a son of the late John F. and Stella [Sawczyk] Zahradnik.

Mr. Zahradnik was a graduate of Bishop Duffy and served with the US Marine Corp. 

He was employed with DuPont, Great Lakes Roofing and then with McGonigle & Hilger Roofing in Lockport, where he retired as Vice President in 2001.

Mr. Zahradnik was one of the founding members and President of the Niagara Wheatfield Athletic Association, where he was also the head coach of the Wildcats, which was the first team to win a championship for the Association.

He loved spending time at his son's ranch in Texas, was a competitive skeet shooter and an avid Bills, Yankee and Notre Dame fan.

Mr. Zahradnik is survived by his wife of  65 years  Mary Ann  [Burnett] Zahradnik, his children Francis J. (Mary) Zahradnik and Suzanne (Michael) Elliott, five grandchildren Frank, Benjamin, Joshua, Skyler and Kiersten,  three great-grandchildren Benjamin, Austyn and Mila, two brothers John (Janet)  and James (Diane) Zahradnik, also many nieces and nephews.

Everyone is invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on  Thursday at 10 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.

Memorials may be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Entombment with Military Honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
