Gail Christine Pendergast

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gail C. Pendergast (Carr) on June 30th 2026, leaving a void that can never be filled. Gail was born on August 27, 1950, in Niagara Falls, NY, to the late Harold and Gertrude (Quester) Carr.

Gail graduated from Trott Vocational High School.

Gail was a hard worker throughout her life. She worked as the church secretary at St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, NY, while she raised her young family. Gail found her calling improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She worked over 30 years in this field at United Cerebral Palsy and Opportunities Unlimited as a Program Manager.  After retirement, she continued this work by volunteering on several committees to continue this mission. Gail also worked at Di Camillo’s Bakery to fill her time. She enjoyed her co-workers and meeting new people in this position.

Gail is predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Pendergast, who passed away in 1998. 

They were married in 1971, and enjoyed a happy marriage in the time they had together.

She is survived by her children Joseph Pendergast, Catherine (Joseph) Contento, and Timothy (Christa Wilkie) Pendergast. She was the grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren Dominic, Sophia, and Ella Contento, Jack and Isla Pendergast; all of whom she cherished deeply. Gail loved hearing about the accomplishments and interests of her grandchildren.

She was the sister to Dennis (late Barbara) Carr, Robert (Dawn) Carr, Timothy (Janice) Carr, Barbara Chapman, Nancy (late Terrance) Hawes. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Gail is predeceased by her brothers Warren (late Carolyn) Carr, Harold (late Shirley) Carr, Richard (Roseanne) Carr, Terrance Carr, and sisters, Catherine (Lester) Moeller, and Patricia (James) Lundy.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who supported Gail during her illness.  Especially the exceptional team from Niagara Hospice.

Donations may be made to Niagara Hospice in Gail’s name, in lieu of flowers.

Her family will be present on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 6-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.
