George J. Rutledge of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020, in Buffalo General Hospital. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on December 19, 1949, the son of the late John L. and Carmelita [Gormley] Rutledge.
Mr. Rutledge graduated from Bishop Duffy High School and served with the US Marines during the Vietnam War and later with the 107th National Guard. He was a production worker with the Tonawanda Engine Plant for over 30 years, retiring in 2008. Mr. Rutledge was an avid sportsman and a member of the Niagara River Anglers and the Niagara County Sportsman Association.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Carolyn [Porter] Rutledge, his children Christopher (Sandra) Rutledge and Jennifer (Kevin) Caprio, five grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, Jack, Declan, and Melina, a brother Michael (Rita) Rutledge and a sister Kathleen (Victor) Wright, also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Rutledge.
His family will be present on Saturday from 11-1:00 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, followed by Military Honors.
