Gordon Woelfel

Gordon Woelfel of Sanborn, NY,  passed away on  Monday, April 4, 2022, at DeGraff Nursing Care Facility.  He was born in Buffalo, NY,  on March 28, 1943, the son of the late Howard R. and Elma Mae [Schafer] Woelfel.

Mr. Woelfel graduated from North Tonawanda High School.

He was a journeyman with the Tonawanda Forge Plant for over 30 years before retiring in 1997.

Mr. Woelfel was a member of the Tonawanda Island Launch Club, Gas Town Sportsman's Club and the Gratwick Hose Fire Company.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, boating and wintering in Ft. Myers.

Mr. Woelfel is survived by his wife of 58 years Rose Marie [Piasecki] Woelfel, two children Gerald (Suzanne Freehauf) Woelfel and Roberta (Chris Copper) Sherwood, two grandchildren Brandon (Cassie)  and Kaleigh Sherwood and a great grand daughter Raegan, also many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Michelle Woelfel and brother of the late Dale Woelfel and Diane (Joe) Czochara.

A celebration of his life will be held at a time to be announced.
