Gordon "Gordie" Maess Obituary

Gordon “Gordie” Douglas Maess, 78 years of age, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.   He was born to the late Albert and Dora Maess in Buffalo, New York in 1942.

He is also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Bach (William) and his brother, Albert “Bud” Maess.

Left to mourn Gordie’s passing are his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Murphy Maess; sons, Fred Maess (Kristy) and Dave Maess; grandchildren, Jennifer Greer (Eric) and Michelle Oldham (Dave); as well as, Dillon McCarty (Julia), Jake Wambold, and Mason Wambold that he loved as his own grandchildren; great grandchildren, Cooper Greer and soon to be expected Zoey Greer; and his dear sister, Sharon Krause (Joe).

Gordie served his country in the United States Navy.   

He will be remembered for his love of family, reading, woodworking, math, and physics.

Gordie retired from Ferro Corporation where he worked for many years as an engineer.

Visitation will take place on Monday, June 15 at Stith Funeral Home, 2988 Phyllis Court, Hebron, Kentucky, 41048 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m.   For those attending the visitation and service, masks and social distancing are strongly encouraged.

Burial will take place at White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst, New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, care of the St. Elizabeth Foundation, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Kentucky, 41017.
