Jacqueline J. Jacobs of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in Northgate Health Care Facility. She was born in Altavista, VA, on June 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Durland W. and Fannie M. [Campbell] Shumway.
After graduating from high school at age 16, she worked for Western Union during World War Two where one of her duties was delivering War Department telegrams, notifying parents of service members killed in combat.
Jacqueline was a summa cum laude graduate of Niagara University, where she also earned a masters. She was a business teacher at Niagara-Wheatfield High School.
Jacqueline met her husband-to-be the late Thomas W. Jacobs at his diner in Niagara Falls in 1946 and they were married in 1950. They had 41 years together before his death in 1992.
She is survived by four sons David (Kate)Quinn-Jacobs, Matthew ( Miriam) Jacobs, Donald (Tina) Jacobs and Mark (Anne) Jacobs, ten grandchildren
Leah Jacobs, Joseph Jacobs, Erin Belanger, Nathan Jacobs, Peter Quinn-Jacobs, Donald Quinn-Jacobs, Sam Quinn-Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, Elisa Jacobs-Thompson, and Thomas Jacobs, eleven great-grandchildren: Arabella Jacobs, Ethan Jacobs, Orion Jacobs, Nora Belanger, Miles Belanger, Loren Jacobs-Thompson, Felix Jacobs-Thompson, Auden Jacobs-Thompson, David Jacobs, Corinne Jacobs, Elias Jacobs.
She was the sister of the late Karl Shumway, Wilma Jean Brown, Barbara Wilson, and June Mayes.
Private Funeral Services will be held at the wishes of her family.
Memorials may be made in her name to Niagara Hospice.
Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery.
