James "Jim" Arthur Bateman, III
Of Niagara Falls, NY passed away December 20, 2023. He was born on February 4, 1958 in Niagara Falls, NY, son of the late James Arthur and Adele (Wiatr) Bateman, Jr.
Jim graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1976. He was employed as an Operating Engineer at the LaFarge Niagara Quarry, retiring after 38 years.
He was a volunteer coach with Whirlpool Park Athletic Association for several years. Jim enjoyed fishing, drag racing and watching the Buffalo Bills.
Jim is survived by his wife Jody A. [Fields] Bateman, they were married on July 7, 1979. Also survived by his daughter LeighAnn (Will Colley) Bateman Smouse and son James (Jenna Passaro) Bateman. Loving Papa to three precious grandchildren Nicholas Smouse, Grace Colley and Zoey Bateman. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws JoAnn Fields Swick and Judy Fields Alexander, brother-in-laws William (Judy Pullito) Fields and John Fields, several nieces and nephews.
Jim was the brother of the late Michael Bateman and in-laws William and Lorraine Mazzei Fields.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a time to be determined.
Memorials in his name may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital or Niagara Hospice.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Niagara Hospice, especially Emily for her care and to the coffee club for all their support.
