James E. Mowrey

Of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 in Elderwood at Wheatfield.  He was born in Big Soldier, PA on December 6, 1930, the son of late Charles E. and Anna [Sloan] Mowrey.

Mr. Mowrey moved to the area in 1952 after serving in the US NAVY.

He was employed with Spaulding Fibre for over 30 years until the plant closed, as a supervisor and as the research and development manager.

Mr. Mowrey was a member of the Ken-Ton Masonic Lodge for 60 years and of  St. Martin Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda.

He was the husband of 69 years to the late Dolores J. [Licht] Mowrey, who passed away on February 22, 2023.

Mr. Mowrey is survived by his daughter Debbie [ Michael ] Hechler, grandchildren Christopher and Anna (Clayton) Hess, great-grandchildren Savannah, Avery and Clayton, Jr., a brother Thomas Mowrey, also many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Patrick D. and James W. Mowrey and the brother of 15 siblings.

His family will be present  on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at THE RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY,  with funeral services on Monday at 11AM, with the Rev. Meghan James officiating.

Memorials may be made in his name to St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 322 Old Falls Boulevard, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.

Interment with Military Honors in White Chapel Amherst, NY.
