James "Buster" F. Swanson

JAMES F. "Buster" SWANSON

Of the Town of Porter, passed away peacefully on  January 22, 2026 at Terrace View Long Term Care Facility, Buffalo, NY. Born in Andalusia, Alabama on August 30, 1950, son of the late     Hubert W. and Stella J. (Lunsford)  Swanson.

James moved to Niagara Falls as a small child and attended LaSalle schools. On April 19, 1969, he married Valerie J. (Wilson) Swanson. She predeceased him on  June 1, 2025.

James proudly served in the US Navy from 1970-74, until his honorable discharge.  He was employed at DuPont and Niachlor before retiring. He enjoyed playing chess and was an avid fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. 

He is survived by his son James Swanson, daughters  Vanessa (John) Antone, Kristen and Marsha Swanson, six grandchildren Brooke, Maxwell (Christa), Deidre, Dalton, Jacob and Kendra, a great grandson Dawson, brother of  siblings William "Brad" (Pat) Swanson, Susan (Darrell) Woolery, as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was the grandfather of the late Zachary Antone, late siblings Wesley, David (late Helen), Aubrey (Gene) (late Joann), Hubert (late Lilli) Swanson, Molly Robertson and Marsha (late David) Moore.

Private funeral services will be held at the wishes of his family.
