John Barcer Obituary

Of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on June 9, 2026.  He was born November 3, 1947 in Niagara Falls, the son of the late Casper and Concetta [Mule] Barcer.

John was a graduate of Starpoint Central School and served with the US Army.

He was a supervisor with Nabisco for over 30 years and later worked at Watson Bowman for over 10 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Wheatfield American Legion Post 1451.

John was an avid NY Yankees & Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed attending sporting events, country music concerts and traveling with Janet. Above all else, John enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was the husband of the late Rose [Ritz] Barcer, who passed away in 2006.

John is survived by his wife Janet Wolanske, his children John (Miranda) Barcer and Melissa (Harold Horrocks) Barcer, grandchildren Nicolas Barcer, Nicolette (Robert) Couturiaux and Ian Barcer, a great granddaughter Jessica Barcer,  very dear great niece Chelsea Barcer, a stepdaughter Nicole (Scott) Youngs, step grandchildren Jordan and Brandon Youngs, a sister Anita (Larry) Ritz, brother-in-law of Joyce Szabo, David "Skip" Foy and Joanna (George) Miller, Sue (Sonia) Robillard, Joseph Robillard and was the nephew of Salvatore "Sammy" Mule, also several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

John will be missed, especially by his best friends Gary Diel and Steven Wagner, Sr.

He was predeceased by his sister Ann Marie [Barcer] Foy.

His family will be present on Monday, July 20, 2026 from  3-6:30 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, followed by services with Military Honors at 6:30 PM.

Everyone is invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, St. Leo's Site 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.

Inurnment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lockport, NY.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to the Wheatfield American Legion Post 1451.
