John J. Nickles

Of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, in Seminole, Florida.  He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on November 22, 1944, a son of the late John and Regina (Ciesielska) Nickles.

John moved to Niagara Falls with his family and attended local schools.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy, John worked at Airco Carbon for nearly 30 years before retiring.  He stayed in touch with his former shipmates over the years (U.S.S. Mills) and enjoyed spending his winters in Florida.

John had a passion for sports, particularly the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills, and was a loyal fan throughout his life.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cheryl (King) Nickles; his children, John "Jay" Nickles, Jonna (Larry) Swartz, and Jennifer (late Rutherford) Watson; five grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, Nicholas, Rebecca, and Makayla; two great-grandchildren, Griffin and Lily; his siblings, Joseph (Cathy), James, and Marie Nickles; and many nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the family’s request.
