John R. "Jake" Dunn
Of Lewiston, NY, passed away on May 4, 2022, at his home under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on November 7, 1937, a son of the late William and Mary Mae [McGrath] Dunn. Jake graduated from Bishop Duffy High School and served with the US Army.
He was employed with the City of Niagara Falls for over 25 years, retiring as the supervisor of the waste water plant in 1998. Jake was proud of his Irish heritage, as a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians he served as the Grand Marshall of the St. Patrick's Day parade.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, walking the village and golfing. Jake was an avid Bills and Notre Dame Fan.
He is survived by his children Scott A. (Julia), Kathleen S. and Patrick W. (Jennifer) Dunn seven grandchildren Connor (Brittany), Collin, Braden, Shane, Liam, Madison and Jack, his former wife Kathryn [Swigonski] Dunn, also several nieces and nephews. Jake was the brother of the late Andrew L. Dunn.
His family will be present on Sunday from 3-6:30 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, where funeral services will follow at 6:30 PM, with the Rev. Stewart M. Lindsay, OSFS officiating.
Memorials may be made in his name to Niagara Hospice.
Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
