KAREN A. UNTERWEGER

Of Lewiston, NY passed away September 26, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on September 4, 1946, daughter of the late Mary (Sloan) and Robert Woodruff.

Karen's favorite thing to do was spend time with her family, especially at their cabin in the woods. She was quick to laugh, loved fiercely, and unapologetically made her opinions known. She had a heart of gold who gave help to anyone in need and championed many charitable causes. She was an avid reader, a prolific shopper, and enjoyed computer games. She never missed an opportunity to dance when the music was playing, spend time with her only son and her favorite niece Lori, or to tell stories of her childhood adventures to her grandson, who was the light of her life. 

Karen is survived by her best friend and husband of 56 years Peter M. Unterweger, son Ethan J. Unterweger, "daughter-in-law" Tracie L. Covey, grandson Liam Unterweger, and several nieces and nephews including Shawn (Beth) Chesher and Lori Chesher. 

She was the sister of the late Robert "Bob" (Betty) Woodruff and of the late Lynn Woodruff.

Private services held at the convenience of her family.
