Louise Marie Smeal
Of Niagara Falls, NY, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on August 16, 1923, a daughter of the late Harry Albert Wilhelm and Ivy Marie [Clancy] Lehman.
Known to most as “Marie”, she was a lifelong homemaker after a short career as a short order cook in her youth.
Marie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years where she took joy in helping plan programs, dinners, fundraisers, social events and the everyday operations.
She loved art and creating decorations and crafts for the church and social events for friends.
Marie was predeceased by beloved husband Chalmer Smeal.
She is survived by her son Richard (Debbie) Smeal, a granddaughter Angelea (Geoffrey) Crawford, a sister Virginia Smeal, her god children Gregory Smeal and Janelle (Brown) Baker as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marie was the sister of the late Wayne Lehman and Harry Lehman, Jr., Shirley Brown, Geraldine Marsden and a late nephew and godson Jeffrey Smeal.
A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced at Zion Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be made in her name to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY, 14094. Their care and attention during this difficult time has been nothing short of amazing.
